Franz Bauer is a musician who likes to embark on extended journeys in very different musical areas. From drummer to classical orchestra musician and soloist, in and in addition to his classical training, he focused on his main instruments, the vibraphone and the marimba, which have become his strongest means of expression.
Franz Bauer was classically educated at the Munich College of Music. At the Berlin University of the Arts and the famous Berklee College of Music (Boston, USA) he completed his jazz studies.
His main teachers were David Friedman, Dave Samuels and Ed Saindon.
He plays in a variety of projects, from contemporary music ensembles to modern jazz groups and solo/duo performances. He appears as a side man on many CD’s and concerts in Germany and abroad. He toured Central Amerika, Rumania and France among other countries and also functioned as a cultural Ambassador in coorporation with the German Goethe Institut.
In addition to performing concerts and recording CD’s, he was chosen to be the curator of a concert series and produced his own CD’s. In 2018 he became the head of the jazz-department of a well known Berlin music school.
